INFORMATION:
Hawkwind headlined the second annual Strange Daze space rock festival, just as they had in 1997. However, founder Dave Brock (vox, guitar, synths) and Ron Tree (bass, vox) were detained at the US/Canada border for passport violations. The remaining Hawks performed anyway, enlisting the help of two local musicians from a Hawkwind cover band as replacements. Heavy on older material, the set is nonetheless representative of the band overcoming obstacles to put on a memorable, if not exceptionally technical, performance.
