Guide Gent's House

Cherrygrove City is not as big as its name makes it sound. There really is nothing all that interesting here except the Guide Gent's House. The Guide Gent is a man that always helps new trainers by showing them around, explaining to them the importance of pokémon centers and pokémarts, and he gives them a map card for their pokégear.

The visit to Mr. Pokémon's house

The second version of the pokédexA little to the north of Cherrygrove City is the house of Mr. Pokémon, a close friend of Professor Elm and Professor Oak. In the year 2000, he discovered that pokémon could be hatched from eggs. He called over both professors to show them but out of them, only Professor Oak came. Professor Elm sent the trainer to find out what all the fuss was about (thinking it would be a false alarm again and being too busy with his work). Professor Oak, seeing that Professor Elm put so much trust in this trainer by sending him, he gave him a pokédex.

Later on, when the trainer came to revisit Mr. Pokémon, he showed him the Dragon Scale, which Mr. Pokémon exchanged for an item that was more useful to him.
