There
are several side quests and occurences that you can also pursue
during your quest for the legendary cards. Ishihara's House
The Pokemon collector Ishihara's house is in the upper left
part of the world map. You need to go there to find Grass
Club Master Nikki initially, but he will also be a valuable
trading partner. Over time, Ishihara will offer to trade his
Surfing Pikachu Lv13 for your Clefable Lv34, his Flying Pikachu
Lv12 for your Ditto Lv19, and his Surfing Pikachu Lv13 for
your Chansey lv55. Check back with him often. Ishihara's library
is also a great source of information about various Pokemon.
Ronald Your rival will show up and challenge you from time
to time. The first time will be after you win your second
Medal. Ronald- I'm Ronald! deck Prizes: 6 Win: Jigglypuff
Lv12 This deck is made up mostly of basic Pokemon, of various
types. Whatever deck you used to win your second Medal should
be plenty good enough to defeat it. Your second duel will
come after you've won your fifth Medal. Ronald- Second Duel
deck Prizes: 6 Win: Super Energy Retrieval This time, Ronald
will play smarter and use better cards. I suggest using a
Psychic or Fighting deck to duel with him, or maybe a combination
of the two. He will use mostly powerful basic Pokemon that
need no evolution like Hitmonchan Lv33 and Tauros Lv32. Ronald
will challenge you again at the second Challenge Cup. Ronald-
Third Duel deck Prizes: 6 Win: Jigglypuff Lv12 By now, Ronald
has learned that you are someone to contend with and has pulled
out all the stops to try to beat you. He will use several
different types of Pokemon, so I suggest a Psychic deck with
an energy removal strategy. If you win, you will get another
Jigglypuff Lv12, the same as the one you won for beating him
the first time. After this, you won't see Ronald until you
enter the Pokemon Dome and challenge the legendary Masters.
Challenge Cup Once or twice during your quest, at unknown
times, a Challenge Cup will be held at the Challenge Hall.
If you arrive at the right time you can enter, and will face
3 random members of the various Clubs in duels. if you win
them all, you will have won the Cup, and will be given a very
rare card as a reward. The first time you win, you will be
given a Mewtwo Lv60 card. The second Cup you win will get
you a Mew Lv8 card. Challenge Cups will continue to be held
randomly even after you win the legendary cards, and will
offer various very rare cards as prizes. Imakuni? A very strange
man, Imakuni? is a mystery even to the other people in the
Clubs. He claims to be a musician, but also wears black mouse
ears on his head, so who knows for sure? He will appear randomly
from time to time in a Club, and you can challenge him to
a duel if you can find him. Imakuni? Prizes: 6 Win: One of
each booster Imakuni? uses a Water/Psychic type deck. A decent
Lightning or Psychic deck should be good enough to beat him,
especially since he insists on playing his trademark card.
The Imakuni? Trainer card is an interesting collectible, but
all it does is Confuse your own active Pokemon. Imakuni? will
use it all the time, and if you beat him enough times, he'll
give you one of your very own!
