Parasite Eve
Moments Of Transition
Aya Brea turned off the shower and just stood for
a moment, letting the hot water drip down her golden brown skin. She
pressed her forehead against the slick wall tile, listening to the drip of
water upon the tiled floor of the stall, the hypnotizing swirl of liquid
spiraling into the gleaming drain. Aya closed her eyes, lost in thought,
lost in memory...
***
The young woman's most vivid early memory was the
crash that killed her parents. Aya and her younger sister had survived,
but had suffered severe cerebral trauma. There was nothing conventional
medicine could do to help the comatose girls, but there was an untested, highly
experimental treatment that could heal Aya's wounds. Dr. Hans Klamp heard
of Aya's condition and judged that she could be a useful test subject for his
new gene-manipulation procedure.
Dr. Hans Klamp was a young, hot shot researcher
working for a Japanese university that specialized in bio-cellular research.
Hans focused his research upon mitochondria, the component of a cell that
converts sugar into energy for the body. Dr. Klamp theorized that much of
the energy generated by the mitochondria is wasted, just as energy is lost when
electricity is transmitted through a line of copper wire. Hans believed
that if he could make mitochondria intelligent, the wasted bio-energy could be
recovered and utilized. The possibilities were endless, fatal wounds
could be healed within moments, the mind would be able to manipulate tissue on
the cellular level, the danger of disease would be gone, age and death could be
defeated.
The University saw the benefits of Dr. Klamp's
research and lavished resources and funding upon him. They paid for the
procurement of test subjects like Aya Brea so that Hans could implement his
revolutionary techniques. Aya underwent Dr. Klamp's treatment and stayed
at the University hospital under close observation. Aya's younger sister
had more severe injuries, so she had to endure even more radical treatments.
Aya's memories of her sister were hazy at that point, she could recall
images of her younger sister in bed, then the girl being taken away by nurses,
then nothing more.
Aya was not the only girl undergoing Dr. Klamp's
experimental treatments, there was another girl, a girl named Melissa Pearce.
Melissa was a year younger than Aya, she had been admitted to the lab in
order to find a cure for her brain cancer. Melissa was always in constant
pain, she never spoke much to Aya, she fought with all her might to endure the
agony throbbing within her skull.
Just like her sister, Melissa was taken away one
night, and Aya never saw her again. Aya herself recovered quickly, she
was put through exhaustive physical and mental testing, until finally she was
deemed a success. When Aya turned sixteen, she was released from the
University hospital and flown back to the United States, where she was adopted
by foster parents. She went through high school and college, graduated at
the top of her class, and decided to become a police officer. Aya always
thought about her little sister, she wondered what had happened to the girl, if
she was even still alive.
The University never told Aya what had happened to
her sister. Aya couldn't even contact Dr. Klamp about the experiments
performed upon her or her sibling. It was a mystery that plagued Aya,
until the Parasite Eve incident.
The re-appearance of Melissa Pearce initiated a
series of events that unraveled the mysteries of Aya's past. Aya's sister
had evolved into the first Eve, a mitochondria-mutated woman whose sole purpose
was to give birth to the Ultimate Being, the next stage of human evolution.
The first Eve had become too powerful, so Dr. Klamp destroyed her and
began again, this time using Melissa as a test subject. Hans developed
drugs that kept Melissa's mutation under control, until she stopped using them.
At an opera performance, Melissa changed into the second Eve, and used
her mitochondria-spawned powers to torch the theater's audience. Aya
pursued Eve, encountering Dr. Klamp and his assistant, a young scientist named
Kunihiko Maeda. Maeda and Aya's partner, detective Daniel "Bo"
Dallas, helped the young woman track down and confront Eve before the
mitochondria-possessed creature could give birth to the Ultimate Being.
The battle with Eve above the Statue of Liberty
did not prevent Eve from spawning the Ultimate Being. All seemed lost,
until Aya discovered her own mitochondria-powers. She fought the newborn
Being, and destroyed it with Maeda's help.
Two years had passed since the Ultimate Being's
destruction. Aya still worked for the NYPD. Bo was now chief of
police. Maeda had returned to Japan with the Ultimate Being and Eve's
remains to study them. Dr. Hans Klamp, the father of the intelligent mitochondria
research, was dead, burned to ash by his own creation.
Klamp's legacy still gave the NYPD problems.
Mutants created by the intelligent mitochondria continued to plague New
York, although their numbers were decreasing steadily. Bo had put Aya in
charge of the mutant cases since she was the best equipped to deal with them.
Bo and Maeda were the only ones who knew about her own mutation and the
powers it gave her. Aya was different, set apart, as alien as her sister
and Melissa.

The phone in Aya's bedroom rang shrilly. Aya
sighed and climbed out of the shower stall, wrapping a thick towel around her
torso as she crossed the dark room to the vibrating phone. The drapes
were drawn across the bedroom's single window, the bed was unmade and
disheveled. Shoes and pieces of clothing covered the carpet, Aya almost
tripped over a sneaker as she reached out and snatched the receiver.
"Brea."
"Got another one," said police chief
Dallas in his deep, strong voice.
"I'm on it."

Aya climbed out of her car and flipped up the
collar of her jacket. The air misted in front of Aya's beautiful face,
even though it was mid-morning. An alley mouth was blocked off with
bright, yellow police tape, four beat cops kept the curious pedestrians away.
"Who's in charge?" asked Aya, addressing
the nearest officer.
"Gordon. He went to get some
coffee," answered the cop, pointing at the convenience store next to the
alley.
Gordon pushed open the store door with his wide
back and approached Aya holding two styrofoam cups filled with steaming, black
coffee. He offered a cup to Aya, who gratefully accepted.
"What's the situation?"
"Several pedestrians heard a woman screaming.
Some..thing snatched the screamer and pulled her into this alley.
The officers on the scene checked the alley out, there's a sewer grating
in the back, it was closed, but there aren't any other exits from that alley,
and there are signs of struggling. One of the cops found an empty, brown,
woman's loafer," said the fat detective, scratching his stubble-covered
chin.
Aya sipped her coffee while Gordon talked.
Delicious warmth flowed through the young woman's shivering limbs.
When the cup was empty, Aya crushed it and tossed it into a nearby
wastebasket.
"Keep this area sealed off, I'll go check it
out."
"Want back-up?"
"I'll go in alone, but stay within shouting
distance."
"My hero," grinned the fat man, his
brown eyes twinkling.
"Smart ass," smiled Aya before she
passed by the cops and wriggled through the lines of tape.
The sun-lit alley smelled of rotting garbage and
urine. Aya reached into her jacket and drew her pistol, holding it
upright with both hands. The late fall air chilled Aya's cheeks and
fingers, she pressed her teeth together to keep them from chattering. Aya
slowly walked by piles of damp, cardboard boxes and broken, plastic crates.
She reached the end of the alley, and spotted the iron grate in the
ground that emitted plumes of warm, white smoke.
Aya knelt near the grate, there were long scuff
lines leading up to the frame, the grate itself was not flush with the sewer
entrance, it had been replaced hastily.
The lovely detective holstered her pistol to pry
up the heavy grate. She lowered it to the side and peered in, the tunnel
reeked of human waste and was filled with thick, wet, steam. Aya lowered
her slender legs over the edge, then dropped down into the gurgling stream of
filth. She wrinkled her small nose and pulled out her gun, bright, blue
eyes piercing the coiling fog. She could sense the kidnapper, his body
burned with the heat generated by the mutated mitochondria. Aya listened
intently, she could hear the intelligent cells, whispering like a chorus of
lonely ghosts.
Aya followed the sewer tunnel, pistol upraised,
sneakers softly splashing in the shallow, trickling stream. A weak moan
echoed through the wet passage, Aya froze, listening for another. A
second moan quickly followed the first, it was nearby. Aya walked faster, her
heart pounding so hard and fast she could hear it. Aya's glowing blue
eyes detected patches of warmth upon the walls, the kidnapper had definitely
come this way.
As Aya drew closer, she could hear more soft moans
and a wet, squishing sound. She slowed when she saw a wall of heat
emanating from around a bend in the tunnel, she swallowed, tightened her grip
upon her pistol, and approached the flickering, red barrier.
A creature that had once been a man thrust between
a prone young woman's legs. The mutant's face was gaunt and corpse-pale,
his hollowed eyes burned with madness and lust. He was dressed in
tattered rags, his body painfully thin and wiry. The mutant clutched his
victim's kneecaps, holding her thighs apart while he reflexively stabbed into
her over and over with a long, bloated, purple cock that seemed to pulse with
its own, obscene life.
Aya could see that the mutant was trying to infect
the sobbing girl, the detective watched with her glowing eyes as a stream
of molten red mitochondria traveled from the mutant into the young woman.
The intelligent mitochondria didn't have the strength to survive the
transfer, however, the red stream faded once it entered the naked girl's
clenched stomach.
Aya aimed her pistol at the humping mutant.
"Back away from the girl, now!"
The mutant slowly turned his skeletal face, eye
sockets burning like twin flames.
Aya felt her blood begin to boil, the mitochondria
within her responding to the mutated cells of the transformed man, like calling
to like.
Aya lowered her gun, her breasts swelling
underneath her jacket.
The mutant pulled himself out of the trembling,
nude girl and lurched towards Aya.
"Get out of here!"
The weeping young woman gathered her ripped
clothing and fled down the tunnel, her bare feet splashing loudly as she
disappeared from sight.
The blood roared in Aya's temples, she panted
harshly, watching the shambling mutant approach with wide, luminescent, blue
eyes. The mutant groped Aya's face, touched her flushed cheeks with
equally hot fingertips. Aya stood frozen while the mutant tugged off her
jacket, then tore open her white blouse, revealing her bra-clad breasts.
Aya was wearing a black silk bra that clung tightly to each of her firm
tits, the mutant snatched the fabric between the cups and tore it free, the bra
fell open, Aya's breasts shivered violently.
Aya closed her eyes and moaned as the mutant
squeezed and sucked on her pliant tits. She frantically tugged on her
belt buckle, unclasping it, then unbuttoning the front of her snug jeans.
Aya was as driven as the mutant now, she pushed him onto a tunnel ledge,
then straddled his bony waist, jerking down her jeans and panties with
trembling hands. The young detective brushed blonde hair out of her
perspiring face before squatting onto the mutant's crotch. Aya whimpered
when she felt the mutant's erection slide up into her pussy. She lowered
her bare ass harder, shoving the thin man's bloated prick deep into her vagina.
Aya began riding the mutant, her tits shuddering, her head thrown back as
she moaned with pleasure. The mutant thrust up with his sharp pelvis, stuffing
his fat meat into Aya's tight slit. With sweat pouring down her naked
body, Aya rolled her sensual hips, her open palms resting on the mutant's
feverish chest, her thighs squeezing the groaning man's limp legs.
As the mutant swelled inside her, Aya could feel
his mutated mitochondria flow into her body. The intelligent mitochondria
in her own bloodstream devoured the weaker mutant strain, ecstasy and warmth
filled Aya as she fucked the weak man between her legs, thrusting faster and
faster with her muscled pelvis, sucking the mutant's cock deeper and deeper
into her squeezing cunt. Aya arched her gleaming back, droplets of sweat
raining from the young woman's damp, golden hair as she orgasmed, her cries of
pleasure thundering through the dark sewer tunnel.
The prone mutant was motionless, when Aya caught
her breath, she leaned down and checked the pulse of his neck, there was none.
Aya climbed off of the dead mutant and slipped
back into her soaked clothes. The heat that still suffused Aya's body
kept her warm while she followed the tunnel back to the surface. She
re-emerged from the alley grate, Gordon backed away and made a disgusted face.
"Damn, Brea! You reek!"
"Going hand to hand with a perp in a sewer
can do that," retorted Aya acidly.
"We collected the girl and sent her to the
hospital. What about our perp?"
"Dead. When he got off the girl he
attacked me, I had to take him down."
"You're tougher than you look," grunted
Gordon.
"Guys always underestimate me," grinned
Aya as she flapped her open jacket. "I'm taking off for a shower and
some clean clothes. I'll meet you later at the station with my
report."
"Okay."
Aya emerged from the alley and climbed into her
car. The woman's blood had cooled, every muscle in her body ached, she
felt as weak as a kitten. When Gordon came out of the alley and looked at
her strangely, Aya started her car and drove down the street. She had
never reacted that way with a mitochondrian before, she wondered what it meant,
she wondered if her own mutation was complete, or was she becoming..something
else.
