Storm Catcher (1999)

Cast:Dolph Lundgren,Mysto Clark,Jon Penner,Robert Miano,Kylie Bax

You have seen this  before just with different actors and director this recycled material has Lundgren out to clear his name after he becomes a patsy for a cover-up seems that there is a special jet that can be invisible to radar and seems someone has stolen it,  Lundgren is of course the # 1 suspect and its up to him to clear himself and protect his family.  Naturally the movie is predictable and boring.

Interestingly enough Hickcox's commentary is nothing but overall hatred and indeed his claim that this is Mystery Science Theater fodder however this is not an accurate description because the movie isn't funny in a unintentional way and its too well made to be even remotely considered a terrible movie.
Storm Catcher is just  a dull movie. A lot of it doesn't work mainly because of the fact that Dolph Lundgren isn't a pilot type action hero.  For instance Lundgren is too tall and big to really convince as an ace pilot.  Plus Lundgren is more fun to watch when he is actually destorying his enemies with his martial arts ability or gun, put him in a cockpit and you just get dullsville. Also what must be noted is just how bland the movie is,  this is a strictly one note conspiracy thriller with little that surpises and nothing that entertains.  The actionscenes would be save the film if they were frequent but once again the movie is just so horrid in it's dullness. Plus Lundgren emerges as one of the best actors of the cast.  Especially when compared to Kylie Bax who makes Lundgren seem less awkward when she spits out her lines with emptyheaded cheerfulness. Storm Catcher is one of Lundgren's lesser films and should be avoided. Even fans of Lundgren will be disappointed by this sub par effort. D.Anthony Hickcox *1/2
