Shadow Man (2006)

Cast:Steven Seagal, Eva Pope

Seagal continues his awful streak with
Shadow Man a movie so lifeless, predictable, generic and devoid of entertainment i'm frankly surprised I remember enough to write this review.  The plot for those keeping score concerns Seagal saving his daughter from the usual thugs in Europe as well as battling the usual secret agent type trying to stop him.

With Seagal focusing his energy on music, i'm no longer sure if i'm against him for such.  Especially if it means I don't have to watch generic crap like this.  It really isn't that Seagal is fat or anything,  the guy can just do shootouts and i'll be fine with it (You didn't see David Carradine doing martial arts in his late 50s)  but for goodness sake play a different type of character already.  Seagal has played the role of secret agent so many time that it becomes just plain irksome.  I mean we know you have CIA connections but enough already.  The movie is just so boring that you just can't understand why he keeps making movies if he has so little interest to do so.   Much like Wesley Snipes  (Though Snipes was effective in the decent
Hard Luck) Seagal puts the most minimal of efforts and simply plays the same character in the same situations.  Seagal is no Connery and when he learns this we will all be happy because it will save us from such typecasting disasters  and when a movie is this dull your hatred is guaranteed.  Shadow Man literally has no ambition in its formula and because it's so indifferently put together it doesn't have an ounce of excitement, suspense or entertainment.  It's a terrible movie much like most recent Seagal flicks...D.Michael Keusch*
