| Scorcher (2002) Cast:Mark Dacascos, Rutger Hauer, John Rhys-Davies,G.W Bailey Dacascos and Hauer reteam after their astonishingly bad Redline to make Scorcher a disaster/action film which has Dacascos as a lone wolf soldier who must launch nuclear bombs in LA to save the world from mother nature who will destroy herself if the nukes aren't set off, Hauer plays the president who orders the attacks in this entertaining movie. Well here it is, the best movie ever to use stock footage. Aside from faint praise Scorcher does shape up to be the perfect type of bad movie that Dacascos is known for, sure it's well made and all together entertaining but the movie is so silly and hilariously melodramatic it just adds to the experience, afterall it's hard not to enjoy. Bailey (best known as Harris from the Police Academy flicks) who figures in as a top government offical. Dacascos doesn't do much fighting which is a complete let-down and Hauer is all but wasted in his supporting role as the President. Still with all the silliness it's hard not to just sit back and soak in the cheesiness of the movie, I mean afterall the whole premise itself is so illogical and so stupid, you know you have the perfect bad movie. I'm just relieved that they still make these types of good-bad movies. I enjoyed it and I therefore recommend it. D. James Seale *** |
