Recoil (1998)

Cast:Gary Daniels, Gregory McKinney,Richard Foronjy

Gary Daniels stars as Ray Morgan a cop who accidently shoots the son of a mobster, however when the mobster (Foronjy) swears vengeance and when the mobster wipes out Morgan's family, it's time to fight fire with fire in this entertaining actioner which just maybe the movie that inspired 2004's
The Punisher.

Recoil is one of Daniels' best efforts, for this one has exciting actionscenes and of course a story that never seems to old if done right, everything about this movie was ripped off by The Punisher, the plot structure and generally everything else except that Recoil is far superior, because for one this has a simple straight forward story that is consistent in tone, as well as the fact that there are no annoying neighbors and the kicker, it's not extremely tedious. Recoil has many scenes that underline the overall mean spirited script, such as a scene where Daniels starts picking off the mobster's kids one by one.  Infact the scene where Daniels snaps the neck of the son right in front of the mobster father at a party, is a scene that gives a strong kick to the proceedings.  Recoil is hard-edged about telling it's story of justice and Daniels' seems quite adequate in the role.  The film's only disappointment is the climax which feels sort of anti-climatic but Recoil remains a strong outing through out and is worth watching.
