| Radioactive Dreams (1986) Cast:John Stockwell,Michael Dudikoff,George Kennedy Lame action/comedy about two wanna-be detectives that find out that the world doesn't welcome them with open arms. If anything else Radioactive Dreams may go down in history as the first (and last) Mad Max parody, unfortunately this isn't the right fodder for comedy as this genre is one that borders on parody already and basicly this is as awful as what you'd expect from a movie directed by Albert Pyun. Michael Dudikoff on the other hand should consider himself lucky he was able to become a star after this miscue because Raidoactive Dreams is a formless bore that fails on almost all levels. Infact this hideously dull throwaway was actually made before American Ninja but released after to capitalize on Dudikoff's clout of stardom. Sadly Dudikoff doesn't even throw a punch in the entire movie, instead any sense of action is instead placed on bizarre humor which makes the movie very surreal. Pyun was right in setting up his characters as wannabe detectives but showing them as wussies that are out of touch with reality is badly misguided and the movie emerges as a yawner. Radioactive Dreams earns higher than a * star rating because it's not as bad as Solarbabies or Cyborg. that being said Radioactive Dreams doesn't have any real worth unless you're a die hard Michael Dudikoff fan.D.Albert Pyun *1/2 |
