| The Quest (1996) Cast:Jean-Claude Van Damme,Roger Moore,James Remar How many times does Van Damme make this movie? He plays a truly talented martial artist who kicks his way to the top of a forbidden tournament. Despite the tired plot The Quest suffers from terrible action scenes and the acting is really something else! If you really wanna see Van Damme beat the crap out of people rent Bloodsport rather than this cinematic sewage. Van Damme's directing debut is lackluster at best, as he directs each scene with such a leaden touch that the movie feels awkward and dreary. Basically, Van Damme tried hard to recapture his Bloodsport magic that appeals to practically everyone in search of action and yet The Quest fails because it's utterly silly and flaccid in the fightscenes. Indeed one can't help but be disappointed by the ridiculous circumstances surrounding the film, not to mention Roger Moore who should never be in a fight flick ever. Anyone expecting a half way decent fight flick is gonna be incredibly disappointed by this limp and lousy fight flick that is incredibly dull and bad. D.Jean-Claude Van Damme * |
