The Prisoner (1990)

Cast:Jackie Chan,Andy Lau,Tony Leung,Samo Hung

Chan stars as the title character who is sent to prison for killing a man in self defense, however Andy Lau is the brother of the dead man, so he goes to prison to kill Chan, while Hung constantly escapes so he can see his son and Leung is an undercover cop looking to expose the corruption, however when all four are set up for a death sentence, all four find out that the warden is using them as pawns but it maybe too late. In this underrated and quite intense prison thriller.

Even though Chan panned the movie (He tried to buy all the copies so nobody would see it)
The Prisioner is one of his most underrated  movies and despite him being the "star" the film focuses on three different stories which ultimately add more texture to the usual Jackie Chan vehicle. Really this is a really good movie that is surprisingly human and powerful, the ending is tragic and the movie has some breathtaking actionscenes that make this movie one of Chan's best, those looking for Chan in one of his comedies will be disappointed, but those who enjoy Chan as an actor will appreciate this first rate prision drama. Also some of the humor works and there are many effective scenes mainly with Sammo Hung who gives the best performance of the movie. D.Fu Lee,Yen Yun Chiao****
