| A Prayer For The Dying (1987) Cast:Mickey Rourke,Bob Hoskins Mickey Rourke stars as an assassin who protects a priest (Hoskins) whom has watched Rourke kill a mobster, however now Rourke must take on his superiors in this melodramatic actioner which is notable only for Rourke's ridiculous Irish accent. This is a boring movie, the acting is decent but here it's the story which is unwatchable, cliched and trite this story fails to be compelling, so what we end up with is laughable melodrama and unexciting actionscenes, that fail to leave much impression. The only thing that makes this thing worth a look, is Rourke's laughable Irish accent.....You almost swear that his usual vocal talents are gonna bust out any moment, and the accent is comical...However for a movie this long and preachy it isn't much of redeeming quality.D.Mike Hodges *1/2 |
