| Police Story (1985) Cast:Jackie Chan,Brigette Lin,Maggie Cheung Extraordinary police thriller which Jackie Chan made to make up for the awful The Protector The movie stars Chan as a cop who must run from mobsters and his own police squad when he tries to rescue a key witness. Jackie Chan's original classic, is arguably one of his best. (It's my favorite Jackie Chan movie) However this is a Jackie Chan movie that is far different what most people would expect. The comedy is still there but this depends more on action and spectactular stunts that are among some of Chan's best stunts ever. Indeed it's a shame that Chan's US movies aren't nearly as good as this because Police Story is truly a one of a kind in the genre of martial arts actioners. Indeed the action sequence in the beginning inspired Tango And Cash's opening scene and the mall stunt is so jaw dropping that when they show it three times, it still surprises you each time you see it. The movie is a basic Bodyguard story however Chan shares great chemistry with Lin and the climax is indeed spectactular. D.Jackie Chan **** |
