| Operation Golden Phoenix (1993) Cast:JalalMerhi,Loren Avedon,James Hong Jalal Merhi headlines this poorly made action flick about a guy trying to clearing his name by recovering some junk that leads to a treasure. Okay what I wanna know is who put the money into this cheap and poor excuse of a movie that will bore even the most ardent fan of Jalal Merhi? (and they do exist) The whole key to making a flick of this breed is to create lots of energy and momentum so the movie works, having lots of good actionscenes also helps. however they do not work when they let their guard down and let us take in the reality of the situation, that martial artists run around doing little but look ridiculous and acting that verges on porn-level. Plus on a technical standpoint Operation Golden Phoenix is direly inept. . Even the usually charismatic Loren Avedon seems to be going through the motions. D.Jalal Merhi. * |
