| New Fists Of Fury (1976) Cast:Jackie Chan, Nora Miao Jackie Chan as a half Japanese half Taiwanese pupil who trains in kung fu to stop the Japanese from bullying him and his people around in this standard chop socky flick. Jackie Chan fights a lot, the story doesn't mean much, the bad guys are one sided and basically it's what it promises in terms of delivering. In this case I didn't expect anything and that's pretty much what I got. The martial arts sequences are well staged but the movie takes forever to get Jackie Chan into action and pretty much it is what I would expect from Lo Wei who was trying to make Jackie Chan into the next Bruce Lee. Such type of film leaves no impression on the viewer and as far as Chan's chop socky thrillers go this isn't his best or his worst. It's just rainy day entertainment when your cable is out and all your DVDs are lost. The ending is sort of unexpected but makes little sense and basically I didn't care for it but it does have its merit. D.Lo Wei** |
