| Murphy's Law (1986) Cast:Charles Bronson,Kathleen Whiloite,Carrie Snodgress,Richard F. Lyons Entertaining Bronson flick has Bronson teaming up with a foul-mouthed theif (Whiloite) to clear his name when C.B is framed by a woman he put away. Aside from some cheap production values and laughable script (Was it a joke to have Bronson get called "Monkey Vomit") Murphy's Law is almost so entertaining I could almost recommend it. Had it not been for the silliness of horrible dialog, Murphy's Law could've certainly earned a recommendation however PG-rated insults in a rough thriller don't melt together all that well and it balances a topsy turvy tone which has one wondering if it is a hard-boiled actioner or a action/comedy. Bronson surprisingly gives one of his more animated performances, The relationship between Bronson and Whiloite supplies Murphy's Law with some admittedly enjoyable moments. However the script gets in the way, and this my friend is where the right man should've been there to force a script rewrite. D.J.Lee Thompson**1/2 |
