Moon 44 (1989)

Cast:Michael Pare, Malcom McDowell, Brian Thompson

Pare stars as a cop who goes undercover with a group of prisoners to help a group of astronauts fight off theives who are stealing importiant cargo in this awesomely dull actioner. Pare is solid  enough to carry the tough guy role but this movie is just too damn dull to be considered anything of worth.

Michael Pare apparently turned down starring in
The Punisher because of his commitment to this film,  which is quite ironic because The Punisher like this was also shelved from theatrical release, and then later released from LIVE entertainment, however unlike Moon 44, The Punisher found an audience which it divided, some liked it, others hated it. Etc.  Moon 44 though is bound to just leave boredom behind for viewers. I mean you know your in trouble when the supposed climax which is typically the high point of excitement, only inspires excitement because you know the movie is finally over.  The acting makes no real impression and the movie is so suspenseless that one is just bored to tears.  On the plus side Moon 44 is better then Space Rage and Solar Force both which had Pare on the moon. Unfortunately that's the nicest thing I can say about Moon 44. Emmerich though went on to better things like Universal Soldier and The Patriot. D. Ronald Emmerich *1/2
