| Master Of The Flying Guillotine (1975) Cast:Jimmy Wang Yu, Kang Kam Now this, this is a great martial arts movie. Jimmy Wang Yu is a one armed kung fu expert who battles a blind master of the flying guillotine (a device that decapitates!) and said master is after the one armed kung fu master because his disciples were killed by him and so the one armed kung fu expert teaches his students and prepares to do battle against a seemingly invincible opponent in this great movie. I love chop socky, especially when they have ambition, show different styles of martial arts and of course come off as totally surreal. Master Of The Flying Guillotine is the perfect example of brilliance in a genre full of junkers. Of course part of the reason this movie is so great was mainly because it was from The Shaw Brothers and that almost guarantees that it will be better than most in its genre. Also Jimmy Wang Yu is charismatic and has all the necessary footwork to convince in the role. Also there is just something irresistable about seeing a blind old man with a flying decapitating helmet (I wonder if this inspired Phantasm) going up against a one armed kung fu expert. It's surreal, it's jaw dropping and most of all it's all very, very entertaining. For those who think the kung fu genre is only Bruce Lee and his clones, have to see what could very well be one of the best classics in the genre.
