Martial Outlaw (1994)

Cast:Jeff Wincott, Gary Hudson, Richard Jaeckel

A DEA agent(Wincott) visits his brother(Hudson) and along the way tries to nab a Russian mobster of course what Wincott doesn't know is that his brother is a dirty cop and that Hudson wants a piece of the action in this enjoyable actioner.

Martial Outlaw finds itself  inbetween the immensely exciting Last Man Standing and the disappointingly routine Mission Of Justice all starring Jeff Wincott, as an actor Wincott is basicly what we expect but as a martial artist Wincott shines and is more fun to watch than Gary Daniels or Lorenzo Lamas. Of course that brings us to Martial Outlaw a movie that is simply action piled on top of more action, as far as these things go Martial Outlaw delivers what it promises, but the story makes it slightly difficult to really enjoy. The problem is that Hudson is so good at actually amplifying his character that we actually want to know why he turned bad, see had this been played by an untalented actor, I wouldn't have cared but Hudson actually makes his character actually interesting. So interesting that it slightly disappoints that we don't know more about him.  Of course Hudson like Wincott shines in the fightscenes and as usual it's always great to see genre favorite Jaeckel but Martial Outlaw could've been much more than just a simple martial arts movie. However what Martial Outlaw is, is a well made actioner that is exciting, humorous and entertaining at all times so for that I recommend it. D.Kurt Anderson***
