| Mad Max:Beyond Thunderdome (1985) Cast:Mel Gibson,Tina Turner,Bruce Spence This time the vigilante cop takes on Aunty Entity (Turner) who may have a new source for fuel in this extremely disappointing sequel which fails to match the inventiveness of the first and the kinetic energy of the second. For people who truly enjoyed the predecessors of this movie, Mad Max 3 is an extremely disappointing miscue for the series to end on. Mad Max:Beyond Thunderdome is a movie that just should've not been made. Especially when one considers how much this sequel had to live up to, where as the actionscenes of the first two are directed with such a lean and mean style is became an experience, Thunderdome is weak, where the actionscenes themselves are derivative of the predecessors and that's actually when we get to the action, most of the time though there just isn't enough here to justify the means of this sequel. Thunderdome starts off promising but once Mad Max meets up with Tina Turner the movie just drags on and on with no real place to go, worse yet the threadbare plot is punctuated by a silly sub-plot about pig crap. (Huh?!) Basicly Thunderdome is a great disappointment that is well worth avoiding because this sequel just lacks the creativity to really enjoy. D. George Miller,George Oglilve *1/2 |
