Lethal Weapon series. Lethal Weapon (1987) Cast:Mel Gibson,Danny Glover,Gary Busey,Ed O'Ross Mel Gibson and Danny Glover star as two mismatched cops who join forces to bring down a group of weapons dealers who are imprevious to pain (Busey burns his hand to show it.) in this action classic which although somewhat outdated remains foremost in the genre it produced. Good actionscenes and great chemistry between Gibson and Glover is what attracted the audience to it in 87 and it's still great today. Definitely worth watching in a flawed yet mostly fun genre classic. D. Richard Donner *** Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) Cast:Mel Gibson, Danny Glover,Joe Pesci ,Patsy Kensit, Joss Ackland Gibson and Glover return in this even better sequel that while more cartoonish is far slicker and the comedy is much sharper this time around, mainly thanks to Pesci who lends good comic relief, Lethal Weapon 2 finds Gibson and Glover trying to tackle a group of South African (led by Germans of course) drug dealers who have diplomatic immunity. Once again Lethal Weapon 2 has all the markings of a classic, and is probally the most enjoyable of the series. Oh and it does have the infamous scene of Glover sitting on the toilet that is rigged with C-4.Good natured fun. D. Richard Donner *** Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) Cast:Mel Gibson,Danny Glover,Joe Pesci,Rene Russo,Stuart Wilson This time the mismatched cops (Gibson and Glover) take on a group of corrupt cops who are dealing in arms and Glover's family is thrown in the equation, while Gibson meets his match in Russo in this mediocre installment which while furnishes exciting actionscenes suffers from a "Been there done that" feeling" However the movie is still worth a look for fans of the series. D. Richard Donner **1/2 Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) Cast:Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Joe Pesci, Rene Russo, Chris Rock, Jet Li Hong Kong action star Jet Li makes his screen debut in this sequel which casts him as a slave trader who butts heads with Gibson and Glover in this humor driven sequel which has tons of mindless action all well staged making this well worth renting for those who want tons of mayhem rather then a plot, plus Jet Li is the best villian in the franchise to date. Overall a worthy sequel. D.Richard Donner *** |
