| Kinjite:Forbidden Subjects (1989) Cast:Charles Bronson,Peggy Lipton,Perry Lopez,Juan Fernandez,James Pax,Sy Richardson,Amy Hathaway,Nicole Eggert Bronson plays Lt. Crowe a police officer who seems to hate Asians because an Asian has touched his daughter in an unpleasant way, (He stops his car and yells a few racist remarks at a group of Japanese tourists) in anycase he hates a hispanic pimp(Fernandez in an excellent performance) even more, however when the pimp snatches an Asian girl Bronson goes on a rampage, however the father of the Asian girl is the (gasp) one who touched his daughter how will Bronson react? Kinjite is a tasteless, exploitive police thriller which critics seemed to lash out at. However I personally found it entertaining, it's well made, stylish and surprisingly conservative. It's message is definitely a simple one and that is "What goes around comes around." The ending is very fitting and the acting is pretty good as far as genre films go. What elevates this one above Bronson's many indistinguishable Vigilante flicks is the real sense of stylish touches. One thing you can't accuse Kinjite of is not looking good as well as containing a great deal of energy. Overall Kinjite is worth a look mainly because of Bronson's performance as well as it's interesting plot threads, not to mention that Bronson anally rapes a pedophile with a dildo. If you like seeing the creeps and scumbags to get theirs in a very satisfying way you will definitely enjoy Kinjite. I know I did. D.J.Lee Thompson *** |
