| The King Of The Kickboxers (1991) Cast:Loren Avedon,Billy Blanks,Richard Jaekel Loren Avedon stars as Jake a cop who saw his brother killed by a ruthless fighter named Khan (Billy Blanks) however when Jake is sent on a case involving snuff films where the star of the film (Is Khan) kills the martial arts stars, he gets a chance to even the score on his brother's killer. Simply put THIS KICKS SOME SERIOUS ASS!!!! King Of The Kickboxers features one of the greatest fightscenes ever directed and that serves as the highlight of this fun and brutally entertaining martial arts actioner that has so much martial arts action that it's scary. The actionscenes in particular are so well choreographed that it hits you on a totally different level. Unfortunately this movie is underrated in that everyone seemed not to like it. It could be the dramatic intensity that gives off a mean spirited sense of brutality, but this movie delivers what it promises and it's the closest the U.S has come to match the hard hitting quality of a Hong Kong martial arts actioner. Still despite what people say this actioner contains an interesting plot and the action more then makes up for the shortcomings. Plus Lowe's directing is stylish and tense keeping the viewer on the edge of his seat. D.Lucas Lowe ***1/2 |
