Kickboxer 2:The Road Back (1990)

Cast: Sasha Mitchell,Peter Boyle,Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa,Matthias Hues,Dennis Chan

Sasha Mitchell takes over for Jean-Claude Van Damme in this mediocre retread which Tong Po and his master pick a fight with David Sloan (Mitchell) the brother of Kurt (Jean-Claude Van Damme) who just so happens to be a kickboxer as well. Many fightscenes ensue.

To tell you the truth I for some reason decided to watch this again and on this viewing I didn't find this as annoying, sure there are many flaws to be had here, the first being that this is more of a remake rather then a sequel but Sasha Mitchell's charisma comes through and it's for this alone that makes
Kickboxer 2 tolerable. The fightscenes themselves despite being somewhat distracting from Pyun are reasonably well staged and well it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

However despite the fact that I found this tolerable the fact remains though that this is still silly and by the numbers stuff, but martial arts fans won't mind because this has at least enough action to justify the means, but why must ana ctor who showed so much promise in
Spike Of Bensonhurst be wasted in mediocre martial arts muck like this?  Sasha Mitchell is surprisingly a decent martial artist and well it's just not as bad as it all could've been but that's faint praise, however nothing stands out otherwise to be either repellent or outstanding so mediocrity is all one can give here.D.Albert Pyun **
