| Jill The Ripper (2000) Cast:Dolph Lundgren,Danielle Brett Dolph Lundgren goes on a rampage when his brother is killed by a prostitute dubbed "Jill The Ripper" in what is one of Lundgren's better (later) features. Jill The Ripper remains watchable through out thanks to a few entertaining twists and turns which build interest, but unfortunately all of it collapses under it's own weight. Dolph Lundgren has always been considered one of the better action stars in the genre and in Jill The Ripper he actually gives a convinving performance as a drunk loser who relies too heavily on the bottle. Also I liked the chemistry between Danielle Brett and Lundgren which at times got me engrossed with the overall story, but beyond that Jill The Ripper is an often a failure, the story is so padded with needless twists and unorganized revelations that one finds it hard to keep up with the plot threads. Also the movie is just too mean spirited, so many of the characters are so unlikable that one walks out feeling depressed. This is one of the most mean spirited movies which features tons of needless gore. However it's fair to say that Jill The Ripper is much better then I thought it would be, but even so Jill The Ripper is overall a disappointing thriller which hardly registers. Outside of course depressing the audience and feelings of awkwardness. D.Anthony Hickcox ** |
