| Fire Down Below (1997) Cast:Steven Seagal,Marg Helgenberger,Stephen Lang,Kris Kristofferson,Harry Dean Stanton Fire Down Below stars Seagal as a environmental agent who must go up against a toxic waste dumper (Kristofferson)who is dumping the waste in the mountains, the town knows but are affraid what the dumper will do to them if they expose the conspiracy in this maligned actioner which is much more entertaining than expected. Seagal's movies have never been thought provoking and this is no exception.That Seagal keeps thinking that we action fans want to see him preach to us about the environment only leads one to hang your head in shame, at least this time though Seagal kicks a lot of ass and keeps the message at least tolerable. What makes Fire Down Below such a guilty pleasure is how silly Steven Seagal looks in action, if you took a slapstick comedy and pushed it to black humor heights this is exactly what the fights here would look like. Seagal at least though knows the theory that if at least provides enough action we will have enough interest to sit it out. Sadly as bad as Fire Down Below is, when compared to most recent Seagal fare it's almost commendable.. Here we can laugh at Steve, and in that itself makes this worth watching.
