| Dirty Harry (1971) Cast:Clint Eastwood,Andy Robinson,Harry Guardino,Reni Santoni,John Vernon,John Mitchum Dirty Harry stars Clint Eastwood as a cop who is doesn't hesitate to use vigilante tactics to track down a serial killer calling himself "Scorpio"(Robinson) in this controversial yet extremely well put together actioner which features excellent thesping from not only Eastwood but likewise Robinson and Santoni which add much more texture to this vigilante/cop thriller which more then makes it superior in the field it spawned. Dirty Harry has a lot in common with the other classic vigilante thriller Death Wish, However where as Death Wish took it one step too far, by literly having an everyday man take the law into his own hands Dirty Harry asks what if a cop broke the law to catch a killer? Indeed this has very fascinating politics and is perfect with the first Death Wish movie (Maybe part 5 if you feel lucky) as both preach the same thing. However in terms of action and suspense Dirty Harry emerges as a tightly wound powerhouse. Indeed the climax which has Eastwood saying to Robinson that he's lost count over how many bullets he fired and that hemay indeed be out of bullets provides one of action cinema's most suspenseful moments captured on film.
