| Cliffhanger (1993) Cast: Sylvester Stallone,John Lithgow,Janine Turner,Michael Rooker Stallone stars as an expert mountain climber who must thwart terrorists (Led by Lithgow) in the rockies and save his girlfriend in the process, in this well made and genuinely enjoyable actioner, which focuses more on the suspense level rather then gore and in doing so Harlin has made a winner. That's not to say that the violence isn't graphic, one fightscene could've been used in a slasher pic, but most of the time Cliffhanger has an atmosphere that totally engrosses the viewer, and so when we are absorbed the movie's suspense and action are all that more effective. What Cliffhanger is if anything is Stallone's comeback film of the early 90's, after such a dud as Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, Stallone found an actioner which not only suits his talent but also provides one of his best performances to date. Also it remains one of Harlin's best movies.
