| The Chinese Connection (1973) Cast: Bruce Lee,Nora Miao Some good action scenes can't save this badly dubbed disaster although Lee has a undeniable presence. Lee stars as a man who feels he must avenge his teacher's death at the hands of those dirty Japanese cowards in this racist and painfully dull Bruce Lee actioner. Why did I hate this? Well I am a HUGE Bruce Lee fan, I love the guy but this bargain bin martial arts actioner has so many slow moments that I could barely stay awake, it's just extremely hard to like a movie where all the action happens all at the end, I'm all for developing a story but this movie has no suspense and no interest outside the fight scenes, and alas there isn't enough action! The fights range from 20 seconds to about 1 minute and then it moves on...The dubbing is horrendous and lacks all the great things that made Enter The Dragon and The Big Boss so excellent. This is just a terrible movie that moves at a turtle's pace, suspense is nonexistent and the fights are far too short. The climax is somewhat entertaining but at that point it's too little too late and although all of Lee's other films are worth watching, this is only the exception to said rule.. D.Lo Wei * |
