| Bridge Of Dragons (1999) Cast:Dolph Lundgren,Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa,Gary Hudson,Rachel Shane Surprisingly lively Lundgren vehicle casts the swede as a killing machine who helps a princess overthrow the brutal dictator who killed her father to seize the kingdom, much action ensues. Good actionscenes and a fun plot make this worth watching for fans of the genre.. The whole premise of Bridge Of Dragons has indeed gotten good reviews due to the fact that audiences really enjoy buying into the fantasy of the premise. After all this is a post apoclypse thriller with an anime backdrop which of course features enough creativity to be worth watching for the action fan tired of the whole cop routine. Also to the film's favor are, of course the actionscenes which are well choreographed and frequent enough to entertain the viewer. Bridge Of Dragons is an ambitous feature from Dolph Lundgren, indeed from the genre. Its telling that this story involves a princess and samurai like warriors, something strange due to the fact that this isn't a sword and sorcery flick. It is simply a straight forward actioner with the premise only to back it up. This of course brings up some flaws, mainly how did this world happen, is it a post apoclypse wasteland or simply a kingdom in the future? Still as far as these things go, Bridge Of Dragons emerges as pleasing at least on the visceral level. Also it brings back a genre I miss, mainly the one man army crusade movie. Of course the movie is so ambitious it combines the one man army antics with the kingdom setting as well as a martial arts type thriller. Indeed the movie is so busy with what it juggles that it is no wonder the movie is never as successful as it could be, still for what it is, it's a fun action flick.. D.Issac Florentine *** |
