| Borderline (1980) Cast:Charles Bronson,Wilford Brimley,Ed Harris,Karmin Murcello,Bruno Kirby Bronson plays a border cop who goes up against a smuggler of illegal aliens in this extremely unexciting and very dull actioner which not only wastes the talented cast but wastes an interesting idea for an action movie. As one of Bronson's 80's efforts this has to mark as one of his worst. That's not to say Bronson doesn't try with this role, he does but the interesting ideas are all blandly executed making this a deadly bore. None of the actionscenes are all that exciting and the investigation seems like an afterthought as Bronson mainly stumbles across the answers and without someone's ass to kick, Bronson just isn't effective in this type of role. Aside from the major miscasting of the star, the villian played by Ed Harris is disturbingly one-note and is extremely underwritten. Totally devoid of any excitement, viewers should think twice before they cross this border, Ardent Bronson mans may want to, but even so he's done (MUCH) better then this. Still one's not surprised Bronson ended up turning to Death Wish sequels after seeing how unsuccessful his results were here.D.Jerrord Freednan * |
