I rented Blue City to see if the critics were right, the reviews were so negative I had to see for myself.I thought that perhaps Blue City was another misunderstood gem that rubbed the critics the wrong way. So I picked up Blue City for $2.99 and popped it in the old VCR and the result (with all low expectations) is still a dud. Blue City stars fellow "brat packer" Judd Nelson (who has mounted somewhat of a comeback with supporting roles) as a man who finds out his father (who was the mayor) has been murdered, naturually revenge is on Nelson's mind. The movie is really bad. Judd Nelson remains expressionless and unappealing, his charicacter seems like a parody of Don Johnson's Miami Vice character only worse and far too over the top, it's truly painful to watch.. Ally Sheedy has little to do but act tough and run. Caruso and Morris are laughably bad and seriously miscast. Winfield and Wilson give good performances and are actually more intresting than Nelson or anybody in the cast. But even their stellar efforts are in vain. We get a reason of why the killer assassinated Nelson's dad but it fails to really end satisfying. Really this movie is unwatchably bad. It's truly terrible. Don't watch it. And if you do, don't say I didn't warn you.D.Michelle Manning * |
