The Blind Fists Of Bruce (1980)

Cast:Bruce Li,Simon Yuen, Tiger Yeung

Bruce Li stars as a banker who tries to conduct business in his town but thugs turn up and constantly beat him up so he turns to Simon "Drunken Master" Yuen to train him in kung fu,  he does so and then fights thugs and gets his business back in this much better than average chop socky flick.

The Blind Fists Of Bruce is made with a lot more quality than usual for the genre.  The movie does have its share of cheap production values and some un-needed padding but overall this is one of the better entries and the fight sequences are really well done and come frequent enough to keep any tedium at bay.  The training montage is of course where The Blind Fists Of Bruce scores most of its high marks but the thing that catches your eye is just how well choreographed the fights are and how some of the comedy works.  Bruce Li was always the best clone and despite his attempts to act like Bruce Lee,  he did occasionally make something watchable.  So while The Blind Fists Of Bruce won't be looked as a sheer classic,  I'd argue that fans of this genre will find the movie a lot better than most.  Plus Simon Yuen as the master who teaches Bruce Li kung fu is always a welcome presence..  D.Kam Bo***
