Black Cobra (1987)

Cast:Fred Williamson,Karl Landgren

Fred Williamson stars as Robert Malone, an unorthadox cop. How unorthadox, you ask?  He is the only who speaks English, even when everyone else around him speaks Itallian. The plot involves Williamson going up against a gang of hoodlums who live to kill the rich, however when a photographer sees the leader alive, he sends the usual goons who get dispatched by Fred Williamson.  In other words this is a cheap rip off of
Cobra.

Fred Williamson is cool.  I think he was the best blaxploitation star of his time, he was also one of the few to have a prolific career but
Black Cobra if anything is too incoherent and badly made to even hold much interest for Williamson fans.  There are a few moments that emerge as priceless, such as the bodycount climax which rips off Death Wish 3 but for the most part this is pretty bad stuff.  However this movie does feature an action movie first, one of the bad guys steps on a board which then whacks him in the face (Think slapstick comedy) to which the good guy comes and whacks with a rifle.   Black Cobra is a shoddily made movie as even coversations don't explain anything, before cutting to a scene of would be action.  Of course the action sequences are ineptly staged.  Fred Williamson has enjoyed a prolific career in movies but this isn't one of his best efforts, try Black Caesar instead.  D.Stelvio Massi *
