7 Seconds (2004)

Cast:Wesley Snipes,Tamzin Outhwaite

Wesley Snipes plays Jack Tolliver a professional thief who makes off with a Van Gogh painting which of course ticks off the wrong people,  however when Tolliver's partner and lover is snatched, Tolliver hatches a rescue plan which will can get them both killed in the latest Wesley Snipes bomb.

7 Seconds manages to be somehow worse than Unstoppable, only because of a bland yet complicated plot which leaves one wondering who in the hell writes this stuff and how they can think it's any good. Wesley Snipes seems bored with the material and being that this plot has been done better hundreds of times, one is left with a lame-duck actioner that will bore even the most ardent fan of the genre. The only bright spot in the entire film is Outhwaite who seems to be better than the material warrants.  Still 7 Seconds only manages to be slightly better than the Lorenzo Lamas bomb Rapid Exchange which had a similar plot and being that Snipes is supposed to be a theatrical star, well this doesn't go over well. Also the movie hardly has any action, Indeed Wesley Snipes is a black belt in real life, so get to the kickboxing already, don't bore us with these lame dramatics. D.Simon Fellows*
