What most people don't understand is with it's bullet proof 4 bolt main/forged steel bottom end and high RPM design cylinder head and valve geometry; the BOSS 429 was a full throttle racing engine. It really had no business being in a street car.

Al Joniec/Rice & Holman Ford's Boss 429 Factory Drag car, shifted at 8800 RPM. This car ran 9.98 @ 143 MPH.
This car still survives and is owned by BOSS 429 restorer Joe Spinelli of Pennsylvania.
