The "Big Boss" up there must be looking after her as success follows her all these past years. |

Graduated at the top 3 of the 76 Graduated Class, Rowena Monzon lived up to the expectations of many to become one who would likely to succeed. An academic scholar, she finished her college education from TIP without spending a single cent for tuition fee. She finished her Masters Degree in Business Administration in 1998. Her thirst for knowledge and excellence prompted her to take courses that would lead her to a Doctorate's Degree in Education Management. Soon, there will be a "doctor" in the house! I remember her as an eloquent speaker in high school. These days she has great use of such talent in her own classroom. She is a faculty member of the Central University in Iloilo and would like to stay in the teaching profession for all the years to come. |

She is married to Danny Libo-on of Iloilo City, and blessed with four loving and brillant "mana sa nanay" children. |

Dear Orland, |

Hi! I just finished visiting "all the pages" in our website. Wow! What an effort you've exerted. Congrats... that was really cool. I can't help but remember the good times and the tough times. But we've got very good experiences then and a lot of things I can still recall. I'll never forget our literature subject with Mrs. Melo and Mrs. Reyes. I can still recite with passion and feelings the poems we had memorized then. Algebra with Miss Saprid was a real help as a foundation in higher mathematics subjects. History with Miss Felix is something I can't forget (or is it because I was her favorite student?). I can still recall how Mr. Reyes, our physics teacher, literally threw our bags out of the window because my group then overextended our "break" in the canteen of Aling Ining. We were so skinny but we ate too much. The preparation I had in high school enabled me to have a Monsopona scholarship. We had free tuition till we graduated in college at Technological Institute of the Philippines. Ron Paras and Solly Camaclang were with me at TIP. It was a big blessing indeed. College was fun. Solly and I were classmates for four years in college. We parted ways after graduation and when she settled in the USA. We still keep in touch every now and then. After college I took the CPA board exams. Without much sweat, pasado agad.(yabang ko, ano? the truth is- it was tough passing the CPA. I had LBM during the first day.) Immediately I was hired as audit assistant at Philippine Infrastructure Inc. During that time I met Danny, my husband. I was assigned to audit the Iloilo Project (a project worth P30 million in 1981). And so in 1982 I got hooked by an Ilonggo. No regrets. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. (kanta yata yan). In 1983 I was accepted in the head office of the Development Bank of the Philippines as Junior Internal Control Examiner. Danny left for Saudi Arabia in 1983. I followed in 1984 and settled there till 1996. |

All my children were born there. I worked as Personnel Manager at Abuzinadah Hospital in Jeddah. Life in Saudi Arabia was a comfort zone. I enjoyed every bit of it because I have no bills to worry about. But children are growing up fast and I am not happy with the quality of education they are receiving and so the children and I came back to Iloilo in June 1996. I immediately enrolled in the MBA program. I was able to complete the course for two years. I am now a full- time faculty member of Central Philippine University (a Christian University). I want to have a doctorate degree very soon and so I am working hard to have it. Teaching makes me enjoy my midlife. I feel I have made a difference in the lives of my students. I intend to concentrate in teaching till I retire. |

My kids are all "mana sa nanay" in terms of their academic achievement. One is a DOST scholar at the Philippine Science High School. The other one was accepted as a fast learner at SPED- School for Exceptional Children. This is a government school so no tuition fee. The otherr one also excels in her studies but she is more inclined in music (yan ang wala sa nanay). The elder is a special child. We call him "special" because of his impairment but he is actually a nice, loving boy. My life is less than perfect but I have reasons to very happy and contented because Jesus is the center of my family. |

My children grew up in a God-fearing and God-loving family. This is the fruit I reaped by being involved in the Bible Study during high school. The grace of the Lord is sufficient and to hand down to the children the values and upbringing of a real follower of God is more important than any other material things I can leave behind. That is the heirloom that can be passed on to the next generation which can withstand the test of time. |
