Formula One Drivers And Teams

Mike Thackwell

Mike Thackwell was the youngest driver at age 19 to qualify for a F1 race in the 1980 Canadian Grand Prix but a start line crash meant he had to give his Tyrrell to team mate J.P. Jarrier so he really didn't start so to speak but i count it and its in the book of records too. Mike also had the chance to qualify at the USA Grand Prix for Tyrrell but failed to qualify. Mike had made an earlier attempt in Holland in 1980 to qualify an Arrows car but failed. In 1984 Mike was to return to F1 with two attempts in Canada with the RAM/Hart in which he qualified and in the German Grand Prix for Tyrrell where he failed to qualify.
