The Terra Cota Race
(Petruccio)

The two of us retired to a sacred wasteland of pure sands. There we undressed to be like the barren and silent sand around us. And pierced our flesh, and the air between us thickened, like water, and carried us over the sand solitude to an immense ditch of liquid clay, glittering brown, with a bliss of blue on it, which was brighter than the dim sun. And we dipped our bodies into the clay to be a different race. There stood we, clad in shining earth juice, like idols, but warm like living beings. Then he told me :"You are so beautiful", and so I was, 'cause we had one eye for two, and neither of us could see alone.
