Corunna, Michigan 4/22 Part Two

The first of a multi-match night had taken place that left Kamacyde the short end of the money. He had been beaten by Unr8ted and moved up a notch in a Cruiserweight tournament.

The second match was a tag team match that started as any other match before. It was at about the 10-minute mark that Jason Bates, the WLW Heavyweight Champ, charged the ring and took out everyone in the match and almost got the referee as well. Jason had come to Corunna because he had heard the best competition in the Indy circuits was coming to Legends Wrestling to do battle.

He left the fans pretty much open mouthed as he exited up the ramp to the dressing room area. I am sure that we have not seen the last of this great athlete from Mitchell, South Dakota.

The third match had Chance Laredo meeting and beating Jack Thriller. The match had both men on the floor and in the stands more than they were in the ring. They had proved to the fans in Corunna that they were more than just average cruiserweights.

The fourth match featured LWA champ Rastakhan in a return match with Johnny Dynamo. The previous match between the two was highly contested. Dynamo had complained to the board of directors of LWA that he had clearly beaten the champ, but the referee missed the count because of ignorance on his part. His manager, Dave DuPonte, pointed out that they were the legal, rightful holders of the championship belt and that they would bring it to ringside with them that night.

Rastakhan barely held onto a victory as he was pummeled from ring post to ring post by Dynamo, who was absent from ringside during the event. After nearly 20 minutes of action, the bout was awarded to Rastakhan with a pinfall. It was then that Dave DuPonte showed up on the stage entrance with the LWA belt draped over his left shoulder.

Standing next to him was a huge man that had face paint on much like the Road Warriors. DuPonte called him Nitro and pleaded for Rastakhan to come and try and take the belt from him. Security guards flooded the ringside area and held Rastakhan back from going to the stage area. They feared that a riot would break out between the two men.

DuPonte told the much-subdued Rastakhan that his chances of getting the belt back were slim and none. He then went on to say that, IF he were to come out from behind the promoter’s apron strings and sign an open contract to meet Nitro at a later date, that he might be willing to show up with the belt.

After a brief intermission, the fans were treated to a huge eight-man tag match that had Eddie Venom, Chris Corvis, Brian Andrews and Brandon Andrews on one team. Facing them were Josh Movado, Jerome (Do It To It) Pruitt, Todd Ordway and Dr. X.

The action became very heated, as both teams were out to make a name for themselves. It was during the initial square-offs that Jerome Pruitt got into it with both Andrews brothers, and the referee was kept very busy trying to keep Movado, Ordway and the masked man from helping out their partner.

After nearly 15 minutes of action, Eddie Venom captured the win over Todd Ordway with a giant swing and a body press.

Bout six had another return battle with no holds barred on the card. J.T. Zorin defeated Anarchy with a lot of dirty, underhanded tactics and some pretty foul moves not becoming a good guy on the mat. He told reporters after the match that he was tired of being a beating bag for Zorin and that he needed to be taught a lesson whatever the costs were. Fans loved the action and gave both men a standing ovation as they left the ring.

Bout seven had Malia Hosaka meeting Randi West. Malia proved to every fan in the building why she is the current IWWA champion. Despite having her hair pulled nearly from its roots and her torso being pulled apart from this young lady from the Detroit area, she managed to pull a win out with sheer strength and determination. She made her submit with a combination of leg hooks and, finally, a Boston Crab.

Bout number eight had a grudge battle between Sabbath, a native of Owosso, and Frank "So Fine" Stein. These two had been on a local television program and got into a very heated dispute over who was the better man. Sabbath had the crowd on his side and countered every attack that Stein gave him. Stein, who goes about 6'3" tall, was instrumental in doing things behind the referee's back with his incredible reach. He even brought some hidden objects to the ring to help him out.

Sabbath ended up with a Full Nelson and made Frank submit. It was then that Bull Wheeler hit the stage and began to call Sabbath every name but a wrestler. He told him that in no certain terms was he going to go home to Bay City with no money and challenged the barrel chested Sabbath to a match.

Then, Bull told the ring announcer to get him somebody from the dressing room that wanted to get their butt beat in a short time. His answer was not unanswered for long, as Whiplash hit the ring and began to beat on the stunned Wheeler. As quickly as it began, Bull grabbed Whiplash as he sped by him, criss-crossing the ring, and knocked him senseless to the floor. He picked him up and slammed him five times and pinned him with one hand.

Desmond Dukes came running down the aisle after Bull grabbed the mike and screamed out, "IS DAT ALL YOU CAN GIVE ME???" Desmond didn't last two minutes before he fell victim to the same onslaught as the previous opponent. Bull screamed out again that he wanted some real competition, and Johnny Sparks, a much bigger and heavier man, hit the ring. He was able to hold off the onslaught for nearly four minutes before he became number three in a line of defeated opponents for the huge 290-pound Bull.

Bull began to scream out again, and, this time, Sabbath hit the ring from the dressing room area. They ran after each other and bailed out of the ring, and Sabbath chased Bull all the way back to the dressing room.

For the second card at Corunna, it was filled with excitement and power. The fans were treated with over 30 top athletes on the card. It showed me that Legends Wrestling Association is willing to go that extra mile for the fans in bringing the best wrestling to mid-Michigan.

I look forward to May 13 as their next date for more action, excitement and thrills to return to McCurdy Park in Corunna, Michigan.

See you ringside…
