I was with the 357th as a crew chief on F-105's, from Jan 66, thru Dec. 66. I spent most of the year on the midnight maint. crew getting them ready for the early missions. I remember how hard it was to try and sleep during the day at the N.C.O. contonemen area. Anyone remember those rides into Takhli on the back of one of the motor bikes whose driver drove with a death wish.During the year of 1966 a squadron photo was taken on the flight line with a "Thud" in the background. My copy was lost somewhere yea s ago and I would be very happy if someone could send me a copy. I'd be more than happy to pay any expense to have it copied and mailed. Let me hear from you.

Gene, Great Web page. I was assigned to the 355th Field Maintenance Squadron - McConnell AFB, Kansas in March 1965 as a Thud electrician and left in November 1965 as part of the deployment to SEA. Although most of the 355th went to Takhli RTAFB some of the FMS ersonnel were assigned to Korat RTAFB to augment other F105 personnel already assigned there in TDY status. We then became the first permanent party people assigned and formulated the 388th TFW. I was at Korat until November 1966. Didn't make it to Takhli until 1973 -1974 when I went over with the F-111's from Nellis, AFB. The thing I remember most about Korat is watching the Thai security guards eat live rice bugs. Hope to hear from more of the guys who were stationed at Korat. Keep up the good work Gene. We lost a lot of good guys over there and they need to be remembered.

Nice job Gene. I've spent considerable time surfing the many vet sites and I actually got goose bumps when I saw that there was somebody else out there who likes to or needs to stay in contact with other vets. The 355th was my home for only a short period of time - June70 to Feb71 when it was "phased out". I'm a TLC member and truly enjoy recalling some of the things that have been lost in my quickly fleeting memory. Keep up the good work. Paul

I served with the 354TFS from Nov.66 to Nov.67. I was an assitant crew Chief on F105 Ds & Fs During my tuor 6 of the aicraft that I worked on went down. I kept a record of the tail #s and dates of the aicraft that were shot down and still have the info. I was also there when LT.Col. Gast received his 1 0 missions and rotated back. We crewed his Nickle tail #24234. I also have many pictures of the aircraft and base at that time. This includes the F105 D&F & G, EB66, and KC 135, the pictures of the U2s that flew out of the base have been lost,I also have ictures of the RTAF f-86s

Recently received papers on my uncle who served in WWII. Listed "organization" on separation papers is "** 355th Ftr Gr". Military Occupation Speciality: Medical NCO 673. He gave my son a design that they had made when he was in North Africa as a design or an ensignia for the plane or unit. I was wondering if you have connection with any who might have known him. Frederick B. Bates, Jr. Thanks for any help.
