Kang Tai: Funan Zhuan (260AD) (Journeys to and from Cambodia)
-----------------------------------------------------

General Kang Tai one of the famous navigators of the Emperor Sun Quan, the founder of the Wu dynasty, was send as ambassador to Cambodia. His job: to observe the marine route between Asia and China.

His report refers to 'great junks' with seven sails, belonging to a Malaysian or Indonesian state, which voyaged from the Far East to the Roman Empire.

This may be one of the few literary accounts about the Malaysians trading with East Africa, as we know they brought cinnamon to Somalia, (see the Periplus) were it was bought by Arab and Greek sailors.
