| May 2002 . Bernard joined the Air Force, and was at Maxwell Field, near Montgomery. He trained as a flight line mechanic with jets. He was a T-33 jet Crew Chief there. He was then transferred to Galena, Alaska, working with F-102�s and F-106�s. From there, he was transferred to Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM, and was Crew Chief of an F-100 jet. He was transferred to Eglin AFB and worked with F-4�s, and left the service in 1967. Bernard went to St. Louis and helped build F-4�s for nine months until a layoff occurred. He went to Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, GA (by Atlanta) and helped build C-130�s and C-5�s until 1973 with another layoff. He went to work with Sears as a service technician and worked with them until he retired in 1997. Linda�s family managed the Gulf Gate Lodge at Orange Beach, and the family moved to Pine Bluff, AR in 1958. She graduated there in 1959. Her father worked with the Transformer Corporation, and she worked there for two years. She married Bernard Feb 11, 1961 and travelled with him while in the service. When their travels stopped in Atlanta, Linda went to work with McDonald�s for 19 years as a shift manager. She then worked with Sears for five years before retiring. They have traveled while in the service, and took an interesting trip on the AmTrak. They recommend getting a sleeper cabin. They hope to travel some with the South Baldwin Senior Travellers. They have a daughter, Sheila, 40, and she has two daughters, Tara, 23 and Tamara, 20. Their second daughter, Donna is 38, and has a son and daughter; Christopher, 12, and Christin, 15. Bernard has a workshop, and enjoys gardening. Linda enjoys embroidery and yard work. They both enjoy fishing, hunting and bowling. |
