| May 2002 Godbee had the following jobs between graduation and 1962, when he went to school: Irwin�s farm, Roy Walker Marine in Orange Beach, State of Alabama as Ag Inspector for soy beans, Surf Bowl (bowling alley) in Gulf Shores, Feed store manager, and nights at Foley Bowling Alley. He went to Livingston College at Livingston, AL in Sept. 1962 and graduated in March 1966. Godbee returned to Foley and worked two years with Arthur Holk Insurance Agency. Then on Feb. 16, 1968, he went to work in Foley with South Baldwin Bank, formerly State Bank of Elberta. He became an officer in Jan 69, Asst VP, Exe. VP and then President in 1985. The bank was bought out by 1st Alabama in 1983 and the name was changed to Regions Bank. He retired in 1998. Godbee married Judie Larson June 15, 1968. They have two sons: Lewis Thomas Godbee Smith, Jr., born May 3, 1972, and Stuart Leonard Larson Smith, born Oct. 15, 1975. Lewis has two children, Lewis Thomas Godbee Smith the third, and a daughter, Morgan. They enjoyed a trip to Sweden to visit Judie�s cousin, in June 2001. Godbee enjoys boating, and Judie enjoys cooking. Godbee had a stress test in early May and flunked. On May 8th, he had angioplasty in two arteries and a stint in the larger of the two. He said it went well, with no pain. It will be hard to change the diet in the future, but is something that he has to accept. |
