Reunion Information
Class Reunions (written May 2002 and in the July 2002 newsletter-updated May 2003)
One of the greater tasks in the past has been getting correct addresses for the classmates.  That is no longer a problem as I am keeping the list current, with phone numbers and 53 with e-mail addresses.
I dont work.  I sit at my computer from 7am to 8pm working on something, or on the internet. Working on projects like the 59 newsletter and reunions is what I enjoy, and others benefit from it.
Therefore, I contacted Warren, our president, and other class officers (Buddy and Clara)for a quorum, for permission to plan the 45th reunion.  I have the interest, the time and the address list.
If I sound domineering, sorry about that.   I spent 30 years in management and I believe in organization.  Planning now for the 45th reunion will allow classmates to plan their schedules.
In 1971 when I planned the 71 reunion (we didnt have a 10th), I mailed out a questionnaire about several dates for the reunion.  At that time, Thanksgiving Friday was preferred by the majority.  I have made phone calls to those that have a greater distance to travel and have asked them.  Based on their response, and my personal choice of Thanksgiving Friday over a summer date, that will be the date.
Summer would be a greater expense for any from out of town that would be staying at a motel.  The rates are at least three times higher.
Thanksgiving Friday allows someone within 8-10 hours driving, enough time to drive to Foley, attend the reunion and be back to work on Monday, if they are still working.
While that is the busiest time to fly, only several would be flying, if any.
Should it be in 2003 or 2004?  Year 2003 would be 45 years from our senior year, whereas, 2004 would be six months after the true anniversary of graduation.  Additionally, several classmates may pass away between 2003 and 2004.  We are getting older! Therefore, I have chosen the date of Nov. 28th, 2003 for the 45th reunion.
The 45th (44.5) reunion will be at the same facilities that we used in 1999; the Gulf Shores Adult Activity Center.

Mini-Reunions
Likewise, in the past two years when I was in Foley, we would have a mini-reunion and have 12-20 get together at the bowling alley restaurant.
The problem was, that it was last minute planning, and classmates already had plans or were not contacted. We started having classmates host the mini-reunions quarterly, and have been as follows, with about 20 attending each:
July 2002 - Buddy and Sylvia Perry in Fairhope
October 2002 - Mary Ann Holz Schaff and Johnny in east Elberta
January 26, 2003 - Betty Dykema Morgan and Dave in Fairhope
April 26,2003 - Godbee and Judie Smith in Orange Beach
     Future reunions
July 26, 2003 - 1pm - to be hosted by Patrick Koehler at the old Foley High School
