I graduated from the Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing in 1962, then worked for a while at the Infirmary and at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa.

My older sister had been living in Michigan for a long time so I decided to work for a year in a northern hospital.

I met Howard Harris, a signpainter, and we were married in December of 1964.  After that, I did some general duty but mostly private duty nursing.

We enjoy traveling and have enjoyed trips to Texas, driving through the beautiful bayou country of Lousiana, to Chapleay, Ontario, a little town in the far north woods of Canada (the streams are so pure they don't have to treat the city water supply taken from the river) to Montreal and Quebec staying on an island in the St. Lawrence River.

We all enjoy hiking, canoeing, reading and touring museums, plus many individual interests.  We have hiked in the Smoky Mountains, St. John's in the American Virgin Islands, and toured Puerto Rico on the way back to the states.

We are active in American Youth Hostels and the John Birch Society.  We attend a traditional Episcopal Church.

Howard and I have moved back south, and have built a new brick home on the Bon Secour River on the land where I was raised.

We have two children, Benjamin and Jason Lee.  Our older son, Ben works in a small metal shop in Anderson, SC, and has three daughters.  The younger son, Jason, is a computer programmer in Anderson, SC, and has two sons and two daughters.

Howard is an avid bicyclist, promoting bike trails in the Gulf Shores area, and has riden from Michigan to Foley via PA and SC.  He has written a 144 page book on bicycling and covers riding in cities like Toronto, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and a number of states.  Books are availabe in Foley at the train depot museum, or give him a call.
