James married Elizabeth Padgett (sister of Hill Padgett) in December of 1961 and joined the Army in 1963. While in the Army, time was spent in Ohio and Germany. A daughter, Judy, was born in Germany and another daughter, Dianne, was born in 1968.
After the service, the Coesens moved to Foley where James works for Leon's Plumbing Co.
James and Elizabeth built their own home. It was quite an experience, but they loved every minute of it. James likes to fish when he has time.

Jimbo, remember those warmmm days loading 100 lb sacks of pototoes in the boxcars, on the Irwin pototo shed, and some days 8am to midnight? But we loved it, and making great money at a dollar an hour. I remember a check for over $72 take home one week, so must have worked about 90 hours or more.
