ANALYSIS OF
MARIO KART: DOUBLE DASH!! MEDIA
by Luigi2
This analysis uses the various screenshots and videos of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! currently available (as of May 12, 2003) to reveal information not already directly pointed out by Nintendo. This page is not to show rumors or speculation, simply observations. Please feel free to spread this information, just try to give me (Luigi2, a.k.a. patamander11) credit whenever possible. Now let's get down to business.
First, let's get the characters out of the way. All of the following characters have been shown in screenshots and videos, except for Wario and Waluigi, who were confirmed by Nintendo's E3 2003 site.
I know. You're saying, "Where the #@%!& is Toad?!" Here's the answer: No one knows, for the moment anyway. He could possibly be a hidden character, but we won't know for awhile. It might be revealed at E3 2003.
New in Double Dash!! are weapons that are specific to each individual character. The following are those that have been revealed in screenshots and movies, along with the character using them.
These are weapons available to everyone through item boxes. So far, they all seem to be returning from older Mario Kart games.
These are tracks that have been shown in the videos and screenshots. Names with an * aren't the official names, and are just educated guesses. Click on a small picture to view it full-size.
Straight out of Super Mario Sunshine, this is what many call the "hub" that connected all of the stages in that game. It consists of cobblestone roads, palm trees, buildings, and more.
This stage, with Luigi's Mansion (rid of ghosts) sitting in the background, also includes a Chain Chomp that will chomp on any pair of racers foolish enough to get near it.
This track is based off of the Gelato Beach stage of Mario Sunshine, complete with the annoying duck-like enemies.

This mountainous terrain seems to be based off of Mario Kart 64's Choco Mountain, complete with giant, tumbling boulders, tunnels, and valleys.
This seems to consist of a bunch of streets weaving between tall skyscrapers.
