31/5/09: Yo. The open mic gig happened and was pretty cool. Very well recieved, see the gigs page for the low-down. Errr, think that's it. Lot's of stuff going on behind the scenes getting the records sorted out but nothing worth putting here really. It's been a lovely weekend hasn't it? Here's looking forward to the next gig. Ta ra.
21/5/09: Boo. The new album and single will both be out on the 6th July (ooh, we have a gig that day too, lovely). You can hear a couple of new demos on our myspace (myspace.com/parasiteofficial). Might be playing the UEA LMS open mic night next Friday, check back in the next couple of days. We've been working on yet more new material, all is going well. Doing exams at the moment so might go quite again in a bit. seeee yaaa.
28/4/09: Ullo. We're playing the Purple Turtle in Camden on the 6th July so make sure you're there. Currently organising some more gigs for the Summer as well. The album should finally be out around the start of July, as will the new single, My Reunion. Just found out that geocities is closing down this year so this website will shortly be redeveloped. oh dear... More news as it happens, perhaps some demos of new stuff will be up in the next few weeks, keep your eyes peeled. ta ra.
20/3/09: Good morning. The Marquee cancelled on us last minute but by some incredibly good luck we managed to get a slot at the Norwegian Blue (you know opposite the Riverside Odeon) so we still got to play our set. Sorry to anyone who turned up to the Marquee, we tried to send out a message... Anyway, yes the set was good fun although numbers could have been better. Now... must get that album out and organise some more gigs... ta-ra.
10/3/09: Excuse the cut n pasting job again...
Deja Vu and the bsides Training For 2012 and Big Jumper Day are now available on digital retailers right now.
iTunes is probably the nicest of these services so here is a link to the blooming record:
http://itunes. apple. com/WebObjects/MZStore. woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=302189534&s=143444
The video was filmed by Sam Terry and edited together (and coloured in) by Bob Williams, you can see it here: http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=ZJm-t_vEWrM or just go to our myspace page.
The colouring in occurred this evening and it took so long to upload the thing aftrwards that I ended up writing three new songs. Maybe you'll get to hear them one day. If Bob gets his way then one of them you definitely won't....
Please support the cause, tell your friends, and maybe someday soon we can have that number 74 hit we've craved for so long.
Cheers! and see you at the Marquee on the 19th!
Adam :)
1/3/09: Yes, the London gig was pretty good, and we had a most rock n roll weekend full of free kebab, upset stomachs, diseases from public toilets with UV lighting and contaminated sharps, a van being driven 350 miles by someone who hadn't driven for several years (yes, that's me), really needing a wee in a van, a slight road accident, a late check in to the hotel, a late soundcheck, Charlotte Hatherley (briefly), the actual gig (hooray!), not drinking alcohol because of driving, double red lines, complimentary soaps, dreams about driving, getting too familiar with Lewisham, dodgy lifts in Tesco, a new flavour of Relentless, driving from Lewisham to Norwich alone listening to Blancmange and Kraftwerk, not being dead, and of course, Sam "Niamh" Wilson. Thanks to everyone involved, especially Sam, see you at the Marquee in Norwich on the 19th.
Adam.
PS single out next Monday! Video on its way, honest!
4/2/09: Oh hey there! We shall be supporting Charlotte Hatherley (you know, she used to be in Ash, where've you been?) at the Dirty South in London on Feb 28th (that's a Saturday, I hope it's either Una or Vanessa...). The night will also feature a DJ set from Didz Hammond (Dirty Pretty Things, Cooper Temple Clause). Tickets are £8 and you can get them from us (please email parasitestuffsales (at) hotmail.com, but hurry cos it's first come first served). As Bob is otherwise engaged that evening his place will be taken by Niamh Starky, which should be well good. It's all rather exciting isn't it? The Deja Vu video should be on the net in the week, Bob has done a stirling job on the editing, it's just having some animation style stuff added by Louise Hoare. Wicked.
28/1/09: Bonsoir. Cheers to everyone involved in the gig last night, good fun. We have shot the raw footage for our Deja Vu video (thanks Sam!) and we'll be doing some editing imminently. Watch this space. Don't literally just sit there though, it'll be a few days...
15/1/09: Good afternoon. The Deja Vu single will be out digitally on 9th March 2009, in theory you'll be able to pre-order it from amazon any time now... We've got some other stuff we're doing at the moment too but we'll keep that under Bob's hat for now...
6/1/09: Ello lovers. The new album featuring actual new songs and all that jazz is now recorded and mastered and stuff. It's called Second Sight and should be out in April, providing I get the artwork done in time. Preceding that will be a new single, Deja Vu which you will more than likely know from our live set. This will be out early March beause I've done the artwork already... 2009 should be a good year, and we hope you can make it to the Queen Charlotte on the 27th for our first gig of the year. It's success will cement our new lineup and determine the plans for future gigs so there's all to play for... More news (ie concrete release dates) to follow within the week. Toodle pip!
23/12/08: You can now get Parasite plectrums from the shoppy shop, and as it's Christmas (or near enough), anyone ordering a copy of Out With The Newbetween now and 1/1/09 will recieve a free plectrum. If you don't have a guitar you can always play tiddlywinks with it.
18/12/08: Ullo. We secured another night at the Queen Charlotte for 27th January, along with my old chum Niamh Starky and the wonderful Aviators and After Effect, should be a great night. We're working on getting other slots now. We've also been working on more new material and I'm fairly sure one newie will be ready for the next gig. Also, I've quietly dropped Kevin's name off the site as he's still not got in touch so I assume he's not interested. The door's always open though, as long as he moves up to Norwich. ho ho ho. Merry Christmas to all our listeners...
5/12/08: Last night was great fun, thanks to EVERYONE. In other news we're writing some new songs. ooh!
29/11/08: Bonsoir. Bob and myself have had a couple of practices now and all seems to be going well, in fact we're hoping to play a short set at UEA's Live Music Society open mic night on 4th December, so pop along if you're in town (free entry for members like wot we is and £2 for mortals). Also for some Bob Motson-esque facts: Bob has restrung my guitar with brand new strings so now it sounds all shiny. This the first time it's been restrung since I got it seven years ago. Also, this open mic shebang is probably going to be the closest we get to a tenth anniversary gig. How sad... I've been a tad busy so I've not done any more work on the album since I last posted, but I'm hoping to get everything sorted out during the time I'm not spending on my interim report over Christmas, so perhaps it'll be out by Easter. If anyone's interested in helping out with making a video for Deja Vu then please email posanzatheatre at hotmail.co.uk and we'll make it happen. Finally, if anyone knows where Kevin is, tell him to get in touch, he's literally disappeared off the face of the Earth... Ta ta
09/11/08: Hello! The myspace now features four new tracks from the forthcoming album, check em out. Also gigs of improved quality (and quantity) may be forthcoming as I'm pleased to announce the arrival of one Bob "Jason Orange" Williams as our live guitarist. Sweet!
30/09/08: (actually, to be honest it's the first of October now...) Last night's gig went better than I thought, even though it was just me, the drummachine and my attempt at playing the guitar. Three new tracks were played and the small audience were nice and supportive (thanks again to those who came especially for my headlining set). Kevin didn't turn up. hmmm. In other news, there are some brand new tracks on the myspace, so why not go and listen to them! hooray!
5/9/08: Added the names of the other bands for the Norwich gig on the gigs page, and also fixed link to shoppy shop on the main page, D'oh!
3/9/08: Here is the keeping-you-posted as promised before: The Queen Charlotte gig is back on! Hooray!
19/8/08: Good afternoon! For those who don't wish to deal with lowlife scum like myself the Out With The New album is now available for five pounds at Soundclash in Norwich. Yes, it's a proper shop!!
Also the Queen Charlotte gig has probably been cancelled because the venue has apparently closed down. I'll keep you posted...
24/7/08: Me again. Badges are now available from the Shoppy Shop as well as the old Selection Pack EP from 2006 that we made too many copies of before the first London gig. The first three tracks from said EP will be rerecorded for the next album so if you want to be a keeno and familiarise yourself with them in advance then be my guest. Thanks to everyone who's made a purchase already. Laterzzz.
19/7/08: Obviously when I said "days" in May I meant "months". Yes I've been quiet, but no worries cos here we are again. The CDs of Out With The New are finally available and they're looking splendid. Why not pick one up for a fiver (plus a quid postage)? You can do so at the fabby new shop on the site which you can get to here. In other news, the first post-Will gig has been announced as being the 29th September 2008 at the Queen Charlotte in Norwich. Details to follow. Ciao for now!
19/5/08: It's here! Out With The New is finally out featuring all those old classics in the way they were meant to be heard. See the myspace blog for a list of places you can buy it digitally. The CD version should be available in the next couple of days and then I'll update here to tell you how you can go about getting one. In other news, I'm working on getting us gigs and stuff like that, and also we are thinking about getting in another guitarist, so drop us a line if you're interested. Artoo the drummachine has been retired after six years actve service, he has been replaced by Arthree, who is exactly the same, just black. (There's no Arone before anyone asks). I think that's all there is to tell at the moment.. It's my great-grandmother's 90th birthday today as well. What an exciting day, shame I've got revision to do... Hope you enjoy the album!
27/3/08: Dan’s left the band on account of not really having enough time to do it, will let you know when we’ve sorted out what to do. Shame really as we were hoping to gig soon.... So it’s just me and Kev now... Dan now has the record for "shortest time spent in Parasite" at 2 months 18 days thrashing Marcus Belassie’s 6 months from 2004....
24/3/08: Ullo. Today we welcome Kevin Lennon aboard the good ship Parasite to lend his bass skills to our future escapades, so we are three-piece for the first time in three years. We're planning on hitting the open mic at the White Lyon in Worplesdon on Thursday to cement our new lineup, so maybe see you there. In other news, the debut album Out With the New will be released on 19th May 2008 on CD (oh yes) and digital (itunes, napster, groupietunes, amazon and lala). More news as and when.
4/2/08: yo! Excuse the cut and paste from myspace but here's the news: 9/1/08: Oi oi. What I meant in that bracket down there is not what I'm about to say but hey ho. Will has left the band after almost three and a half years due to creative differences. It's an amicable split and Will will probably still be diong the artwork for the album. The release schedule should remain unaffected. Ex-Neon Lights guitarist Dan Stobbart has been drafted in as a replacement so hopefully this shouldn't hinder gigging. Cheers, Adam.
6/1/08: Happy New Year, our Christmas gigs have gone pretty well and we can only build on this success. 2008 is going to be a crucial year for us, with the Infrared single out on 4th Feb, the Out With The New album hopefully our around Easter and we're planning on dramatically changing our live sound fairly shortly (what could i mean?). Also we're hoping to start work on the second album imminently, We've got some songs we've been doing live for ages to record and we're writing brand new material right now, the first of which, Machine was debuted at Will's "This Scene Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us" night last night in Guildford which I think was a big success and I'm hoping we can do another one around the time the album comes out. More news soon...
15/12/07: Me again. The Camden date has now been rescheduled to the 27th of December, hope to see you there!
13/12/07: To clarify: the Guildford date is the 5th, not the 6th as previously stated. sorry.
11/12/07: Some news today. Firstly the Camden date has been postponed due to a double booking, there should be a replacement date announced in the next few weeks. Secondly we have made some decisions about our band name (what's in a name anyway?). This statement I have posted on myspace explains why you now have an element of choice:
5/12/07: Yo! Everything's suddenly coming up roses. Firstly our single You Wouldn't Believe Me... If It Wasn't True has recieved a review on subba-cultcha.com where it was was described amongst other things as "sardonic, doom laden and mesmerising". Awesome! Secondly, we're sorting out some gigs right now, so far we've got two lined up for January. We'll be at the Purple Turtle in Camden on the 2nd and then at Platform Nine in Guildford on the 6th. We've got something special planned for the Guildford gig which you won't want to miss, so watch this space. Thirdly, our third single from our forthcoming Out With The New album will be Infrared and will be available around the 4th February 2008. Details to follow. Cheers!
27/11/07: Finally some good news! Here's the bulletin I sent round on myspace to explain it; Our new single "You Wouldn't Believe Me... If It Wasn't True" is now available in its intended form, we would appreciate you purchasing a copy this week as we're still hoping to get in the charts with something, it's a kind of ambition.
The bsides are pseudo-political rant "Power?" and live and fan favourite "Internet Dating", but if you can't be bothered with the bsides then please just buy the a-side several times so it has more chance of charting. ha ha.
You can get to our itunes store by clicking here:
30/10/07: Arrghh. Our new single You Wouldn't Believe Me... If It Wasn't True is supposed to be out this week on itunes, napster and groupietunes, but a problem has occurred at the distributors end and all the tracks have been condensed to around ten seconds each and sound like a long fart. The single should be available as intended in a couple of weeks, keep an eye on the myspace to be really up to date. Apologies to those waiting on it's release. The condensed a-side is technically our new single as it's on itunes and napster, so I have named it Ybrrrr and decreed that it shall appear on our Greatest Hits compilation if we ever make one. More news when things happen...
02/10/07: Ey up. Couple of things that may be news to you if you haven't been paying attention on the myspace recently. Firstly Ben's made a snazzy video for our You Wouldn't Believe Me... If It Wasn't True single which you can watch by clicking here. Secondly, Will and his mate Johnny at Slotdroid Inc have knocked up some unique handfinished t-shirts for the band which you can get from the Slotmarthere, check them out. Digital release for the single is still October 29th, should have some reviews soon which might be nice (or not). At some point all three tracks will be up on amazon.com's new mp3 download service, but I don't know if they'll be up for the general relese date so itunes and Napster are your best bets. Still haven't sorted the vinyl, it might have to wait. grr. More news soon!
3/09/07:
Hello again. We have been well busy. The album is recorded and is being
mixed by Ben now, sounding great so far. The artwork for the new single,
You Wouldn't Believe Me... If It Wasn't True, has just been
completed today and is being sent to the digital distribution companies
now, it will be available on iTunes, Napster and as a ringtone on Groupietunes
from October 29th. The bsides are Power? and live favourite Internet
Dating. Trying to sort out physical release stuff and a gig or two
at the moment. Catch you on the flipside.
PS Artrocker magazine have reviewed the single in their latest issue (with Super Furry Animals on the front) and seemed to like it. "a nice slice of 60s psych rock" with a punk edge, is the bit i remember. "Interesting enough for a second spin". weeee!
Hey guys, our new single "Infrared" is out now on itunes, napster, groupietunes (as a ringtone) and amazon.com (for US customers only). It was described as "grimy electro pop minimalism" by subba-cultcha.com so you really have no excuse. Add to that the fact that it's one of our oldest songs written almost ten years ago and you've got a classic Parasite release on your hands (wahey). The bsides are the catchy "I Bought The T-Shirt" and the punk anthem "Screwed On Caffeine", a true story which you can hear on our page.
you can cut n paste this little fella as a direct link to the jobby on itunes:
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=270358763&s=143444
Hope you enjoy it!
Adam. :)
Following a discussion Will has finally sorted out the problem with us having a bit of a rubbish band name. The solution is that we shall now be around under two banners to represent our two personalities. Parasite/ Paris Sete is the combined name, our records shall be billed under Parasite for the time being but the gigs could be under anything. This is the only change, the website and myspace will still have the same addresses. The reason for this is that Will is unhappy telling people that he plays in a band called Parasite, and I sometimes feel that way as well so this dual name system is a good way of keeping us both happy. And we think it's quite interesting and arty. so there. Adam.
..
or by using the link on our profile page if that didn't work.
Please pass on this message to anyone you know who'd like the single but isn't likely to be on here.
Thanks a lot! :)
Adam.
20/07/2007: wow datewise. Done this site up a bit because it's looking a bit shabby... Back in the studio again tomorrow to finish off the bsides for our next single, You Wouldn't Believe Me... If It Wasn't True and to do a bit more work on the album which is coming on lovely-ly. We will be sorting out a few dates for August/September soon so check back soon, it'll probably go up on the myspace first.
8/7/07: Yo! Our Master Yoga Tour has been successfully completed, make of it what you will from the gigs page.. We are now about to get back to the studio to get the album finished, should be super cool... See ya soon...
25/6/07: Hello. The new single, Master Yoga, is now up on iTunes and so this is the week we're going to make the big push to try and chart. We hope you will buy our single and enjoying dancing around your kitchens to it as intended. There's a little bit more information on the gigs page as well regrding who we're sharing stages with etc. Should be a cool fortnight. bye!
23/5/07: Kingston date announced..
22/5/07: Guildford date announced for 4th July. The single is being delayed a little bit, the release date will probably be around the 2nd July (to coincide with the gigs, which is handy) and will be available from iTunes, Rhapsody, emusic, Connect, Musicnet and Napster... Pester radio stations to play it, I've sent them copies...
13/5/07: Sorry for the long wait, we've been busy.. The download only single Master Yoga is up on the myspace now, promotion begins in earnest this week (had exams last week), so hopefully you'll hear it on the radio or something soon... Gigs are being sorted out right now, first one we have to announce is at The Queen Charlotte in Norwich, which should be awesome so get yourself prepared for that... Laters chums...
5/4/07: Ey up. Kingston gig was cool as, had a really fun time there. Cheers to ben and Kay and anyone else who turned up. Cheers to Blitzhoney as well for loaning of the amps. All the recording for the Master Yoga download is complete and it's sounding cool. Hopefully we'll have it up for your listening pleasure shortly. More gigs will be organised soon cos we're on a roll, so watch this space. byeeee.
31/3/07: Just got back from the Guildford gig. Overall mood is disappointment but never mind, it could have been much worse. The only real problem was my singing... This should be sorted for Kingston on Wednesday so no probs... Cheers to everyone who turned up, hope you had a good time!
27/3/07: Howdy partners! First important thing: THE STAR GIG IS NOW ON SATURDAY THE 31ST NOT WEDNESDAY THE 28TH with different bands. hope this is no probs for most of you, it's due to the other bands pulling out... Recording has started on a variety of new tracks, with Ben Turk producing once again, including Master Yoga ready for the forthcoming download. Also started is Beyond The Sky and new versions of Radioactive, Power? andTake A Leaf Out Of My Book. New stuff should be up somewhere pretty soon, we're hoping to finish these off next week. Also coming up: new gig dates, to be sorted over the next few days and weeks. Seeya.
12/3/07: Well it's been while. Been a bit busy. Just dropping by to say a couple of words on the upcoming gigs. Firstly, I don't think we're actually headlining the Star (with the Bullycats and Jones Radio) on the 28th but we're playing 45 minutes so it's as good as. Also, we ARE headlining the Grey horse in Kingston and the bands we're playing with are My Octopus George, Blitzhoney and Starseed. Also weeks and weeks ago One Zero was put up on Eclectic Fusion but I didn't tell you. Finally, Will is taking part in the Loughborough Students Five Peaks Challenge, you can sponsor him by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/willsaunders See you soon....
31/1/07: Couple of things today. Will's nabbed us a gig at the Grey Horse in Kingston for the 4th of April, so write it in your diary. Ben's also put up a video of us performing My Reunion at Camden on youtube at the request of Emily Scott because I dedicated the performance to her and her friend Laura as you'll hear in the vid. View it here. L8rzzzz.
19/1/07: Yo! Lotsa news for you: Firstly we've put Amy up on Eclectic Fusion for those of you who haven't heard it, and there are a couple of videos from the Camden gig up on youtube which can be viewed on our myspace. The tracks you can watch are Master Yoga and Seismic Activity. I've just sorted our first gig of the year as well which will be at the Star in Guildford on the 28th of March, more details soon. Also Kay Turk (you know, Ben's mum) has set up a rather lovely forum called Sound Cauldron which covers the local "scene" and has it's own Parasite section. Finally, we have decided because of the new chart rulings taking effect that we are going to try and break into the charts with Master Yoga. It will be available as a download only single around June. WATCH THIS SPACE. On an unrelated note there a couple of new Adam & Sophie tracks available to listen to. byee.
7/1/07: The Weybridge gig has been cancelled because of an incident on New Year's Eve which means the venue needs to replace equipment... bugger...
3/1/07: Well here we are in 2007, hope you all had a good New Year's. Should be practicing soon (like tomorrow), and the first gig is still the Woburn Arms in Weybridge next Thursday (the 11th) because we didn't get the other ones rescheduled, but we've started to try and get gigs for Easter and hopefully we'll be even more successful than in this holiday (I mean, two gigs is good but I have a thing about doing things in trilogies). Also coming soon: Pictures and videos from the Camden gig and maybe even some new recordings (if we get round Ben's). Old news has been archived as per usual... bye!
