Inner silence works from the moment you begin to accrue it. What the old sorcerers were after was the final dramatic, end result of reaching that individual threshold of silence. The desired result is what the old sorcerers called "stopping the world", the moment when everything around us ceases to be what it's always been. The spiritual path is not about gaining more knowledge or settling stronger in beliefs. These are activities of the mind, a protection of the ego. Spirituality is the expansion of Consciousness, the realization that we are Consciousness itself. Your being is nameless, free of any kind of identity or definition. Doing good is not about being nice. You can do nice things all day long for many people, but it could be all just more service of your own self, food for your own ego. The world was designed so people would need each other, not so you could be nice, but to give you the opportunity to escape the confines of your own self.
